Tomorrow is our first high school softball open gym, please help?

So I'm a sophomore, and tomorrows our first open gym for softball. What exactly is the point of open gym? But practices/tryouts start are January or February. Anyways I'm EXTREMELY nervous. I haven't played softball since 6th grade and when I tried out in 7th grade I didn't make it. But I'm in a lot better shape now than I was then. I used to be overweight, but I've lost a lot, and I'm pretty active. But over the summer I went to the batting cage maybe 7-10 times and went in fast pitch and did pretty good. I also had my dad help me with throwing. But for open gym is it just to get in shape for softball or what? Also if they get out the pitching machine tomorrow will other people also be not as good since they haven't batted since the spring?
And any tips please?

im a freshman, and our open gym started 2 weeks ago. on tuesdays and thursdays, we run. i dont know what your school does, but early season open gym is usually getting in shape. we do sprints, and countdowns. afterwards, we lift weights and pitchers and catchers stay to work on pitching/catching. on sundays, we practice throwing, fielding, and batting. for batting, we don't hit off of a pitching machine yet, we just hit off tees and get our swing correct. your open gyms may be similar. but, nothing to worry about, even if you don't do very good, open gym is to get better. YOU'LL DO FINE (:
