Anybody just see the worst call by an umpire ever in the Red Sox - Indians Game?
I am convinced a requirement for being a pro sporting official is that you have to be mentally retarded. Indians have guys on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out. 2-2 count on Casey Blake. The pitch is up and in, Casey half swings, the ball goes off the bat and back to the screen. The home plate umpire rules that he was hit by the pitch and awards him first base. The 1st base umpire says no, he swung on the pitch (went around) and that it is strike three. However, he fails to recognize the fact that the ball went back to the screen. I think he may have been saying that he swung and was hit by the pitch and that is an out I guess. Replays show the ball clearly went off the bat. What a screw job on this one!
