any ideas why my fish just died please read?
i have a bata fish and i was going to clean the tank but the last couple of days the fish was just lying around and i was going to clean the tank, then i saw a group of food in the back corner could that be why p.s. i don't have a filter i have a bubble machine
and i left the tank in the same spot all the time ecept change its water and i left the water temperure the same all the times a fill the tank up
and i going to get another one and my brother has a about 5 gallons tank should i put the new one in that thank or leave it in a 1 galllon tall tank
that was the only fish in that tank and i think i got him about a year ago and i clean his tank about a mouth ago i been very busy
Well bettas tend to be happier in tank with no filters because they do not like currents. But this means you need to be cleaning the tank and doing water changes at least twice a week. Bettas are also VERY sensitive to temperature. I found this out the hard way, and when cleaning my bettas tank I used water that was too cold and it died almost instantly. This was many years ago.. Since then I've done a lot of research so I never do that again. Bad water quality and possibly a sudden change of water temperature (did you move the tank or anything??) were probably the main factors that led to your fishie's death. Food won't kill the fish. But is it possible that he wasn't eating? He may have been sick.. Stress could have also been a factor. When did you get him? If it was recent he may have been sick when you got him. Bettas dont get the best care in pet stores. If youve had him a while, when did you last clean the tank? How big is his tank? Is he the only fish in there? You need to consider the necessary living conditions for a betta to see where you may have gone wrong. Also you should compare the way you had your betta's tank set up, what and how often you fed him to the recommendations. Just be sure to do your best to figure out what caused his death, so that you may learn from this mistake and prevent it in the future.
