to bring down the reading given on a digital up and down counter?
I want to reduce the reading of an up and down counter(digital)for example if it reads 10.00000 to bring down to 50,000.need an electronic circuit to do the needful,a genius please help.
If I understand your question correctly what you need is an up down counter made with counter chips that are presetable. A presetable 4 bit counter chip typically has 4 preset or "jam" inputs and a control input. When the control input is in one state the counter operates normally but changing the state of the control input will cause the count to jump to and hold on the number represented by the data present on the preset inputs. The control input can also be pulsed which will cause a jump to the preset number and then the count resumes from that point. An example of a presetable 4 bit up/ down counter I'm familiar with is from the CMOS family, part # 4029. This chip is very versatile as it can function as a hexadecimal counter as well as a decade counter. The preset inputs can be hardwired if the number you want the count to jump to is the same every time or you can manually change the number by connecting the preset inputs to dipswitches, thumbwheel switches or any other source that provides the desired data. Hope this gives you what you needed. If not try to be more descriptive as to your requirements and I'll try to help you out.
