help with blue computer screen and kernell32.dll?
can anyone help?
my uncle has a dell inspiron laptop and downloaded Avira Antivirus from the net. when he downloaded it, it detected quite a few trojans, worms and adware. he hadn't got anivirus protection when he was browsing the net (he's not very technical).
anyways, today when he satrted up the laptop, he got the blue screen of death with an error message saying something about Kernell32.dll, and something about re-installing these files might fix the problem.
can anyone tell me what this means? and do you know how to fix it?
btw.......he couldn't get past the blue screen and whilst the antivirus was running a scan internet explorer kept closing.
Thanks
ok on the blue screen there should be a funky number kinda like this 0x009840 could you get that number off of the blue screen (crash) it will help out lots. as for kernell32.dll if it said it was missing you can actually use your install disk to replace it.
if you google the file names it said where having issues, and figure out where they need to go. you can then boot off of something like a linux live disk and then copy and past the files you need from the windows install disk into where they need to be
you did mention that he was having virus issues before so if you could scan the hard drive while it is off line (from another computer) that would do wonders.
