Windows XP Pro boot screen taking up to a minute each start up.?

Whenever i start up my computer, the windows XP Pro boot screen stays there with the little blue thing going across for up to a minute. am i missing something? overall my start up is pretty slow... Suggestions???

First off, what kind of computer is it?

If the computer itself is old, then yes it can take a minute to boot. Also, slow hard drive, old hard drive, and lack of memory (less than 384MB) can cause Windows XP to be slow at boot.
