Golfers, Please Answer This Question?
I'm hosting a golf tournament of about 16 weekend hackers and I want to handicapp it so it's a net-stroke event, so everyone regardless of skill level has an even shot at the purse.
Now, I know how to do a handicapp, but my friend wrote me and said "maybe we should do a general flight"....WHAT IS A "GENERAL FLIGHT"??? I've never heard that phrase before in my life regarding golf.
Also, here's the main question...
Since I don't know all of my friend's skill levels very well since some golf infrequently it'll be hard to handicapp them beforehand.
So my question is, has anyone ever devised a way, to handicapp or adjust strokes based on the actual gross-results of an event, rather than preemptively? I'm trying to think if mathematically, such a way of alloting net strokes could exist. Thanks.
handicap tournaments are always subject to problems if there are prizes worth winning. what you might do is utilize the "Callaway handicap system" It is used for handicapping single round events based on that day's play alone.
