Can I Bench Press 275 lbs if I only train with 50 lb dumb bells?
I'm 25, 5'7", 165-175 lbs depending on the season. In high school I was 135 lbs and could max 200-220, (165 lbs 10 reps) I'm starting up a work out routine again to get myself into better shape. I have a set of dumb bells but they only go up to 50 lbs. Can I achieve enough strength working out with this low of weight to generate a max of 275 lbs. (205 lbs. 10 reps) or am I wasting my time? If so what exercises should I incorporate in addition to standard flys and presses? I got the max calculator at http://www.exrx.net/Calculators/OneRepMax.html
you probably can if you have been on top of your core. so you have 50 pound dumb bells? yours weight is 165-175. just a thought if i wanted to max my work out i would do push up because my body weight is more than my dumb bells. incline push up as well as working with the dumb bells will be ultimate. Remember your inclines and pace such as isometric hold will help incorporate all the heads of the muscle group you wish to work. This will support the Challenge of pressing that weight. if not you should to be able to meet that goal fairly quickly i give 3 weeks
